Crawl Space Solutions

In the greater Virginia Beach area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair

The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors and windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
