Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at evaluating these issues. We can offer a repair solution designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
