Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, these were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors and windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at spotting those issues. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sinking foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
