Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at spotting these problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
