Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing these problems. We can implement a repair solution that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
