Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
