Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at spotting those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
