Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at evaluating those issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
