Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating those issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sloping foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
