Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at evaluating those issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
