Crawl Space Solutions
In Hudgins, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at noticing those issues. We can utilize a repair product that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
