Crawl Space Solutions
In Hudgins, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at spotting those issues. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
