Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at noticing those problems. We can offer a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
