Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For many years, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at spotting these problems. We can implement a repair solution intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sinking foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
