Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
