Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at noticing these issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
