Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, these were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the doors and windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at evaluating those issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
