Crawl Space Solutions
In Hayes, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at evaluating those problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a settling foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
