Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting those issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
