Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down those issues. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
