In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
