Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at evaluating those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sinking foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
