Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
