Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these issues. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
