As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage.
