Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been dealing with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at evaluating these problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sinking foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
