Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at evaluating these problems. We can offer a repair product intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sinking foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
