Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the doors and windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at evaluating these issues. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
