Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at spotting these problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
