Crawl Space Solutions

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage.
