Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
