Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sinking foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
