Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were built with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at tracking down those issues. We can offer a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
