Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, these were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at spotting those issues. We can utilize a repair product designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
