Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop bugs and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing these problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a settling foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
