Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing these problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
