In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For many years, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage.
