Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For a long time, they were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at evaluating these problems. We can utilize a repair product designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
