Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, these were created with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
