Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at evaluating these problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
