Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
