Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at spotting these issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
