Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at noticing those issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
