Crawl Space Solutions
In Foster, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
