Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, they were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at spotting those problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
