Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at evaluating those problems. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
