Crawl Space Solutions
In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at spotting these problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
