Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage.
