Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down those problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
