Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at tracking down those issues. We can implement a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sloping foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
