Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at tracking down these issues. We can utilize a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
