Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair

Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
