Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sloping foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
