Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
