Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop rodents and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing these problems. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
