Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at spotting those problems. We can implement a repair product that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
