Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at spotting these problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a settling foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
