Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair solution intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
