Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
