Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, these were created with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a system of floor jacks to lift sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at tracking down these issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a settling foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
