Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, these were created with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at evaluating these issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
