Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
