Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at spotting those problems. We can implement a repair solution intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sloping foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
