Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been dealing with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing those issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
