Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
