Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to lift sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these problems. We can implement a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
