Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, these were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
