Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can offer a repair solution that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
