In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces and not basements. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage.
