Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing these issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
