Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to lift sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair solution that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
