Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For many years, these were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating these issues. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a uneven foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
