Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at noticing those issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
