Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at spotting these issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
