Crawl Space Solutions

In Belle Haven, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, these were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair

Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at evaluating those issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
