Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at evaluating these issues. We can utilize a repair product designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
