In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
