Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at tracking down these issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
