Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at evaluating these problems. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sloping foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
