Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop bugs and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
