Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at spotting these problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
