Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can offer a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
