Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at spotting those problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
