Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at tracking down these problems. We can utilize a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
